January - February
On January 1st, a previously unknown force, the EZLN (the Zapatista Army of National Liberation) emerges in Southern Chiapas and takes control of 6 towns in the eastern part of the state.

June
The communities decide to reject the dialogue’s conclusions but also decide not to go back to war.
August
